Does anyone know of anyone that has built an offroad version of a K30 utility truck? I mean with the stock utility bed.
My buudy that gave me the K5 just picked up an 88 K30 and was talking about a lift and 37''s for it

I saw a pulling truck with a utility bed, but that's about it. I just had this discussion last night. If I had a pickup I would definitely do this.

This is what may get built:

1988 k30. Tbi 350 turbo 400/205. Dana60/corp 14. 4.10 gears

There is a Dodge M37 is some of the newer magazines that is well built with a utility box.

This thread is perfect. I am looking to put a utility bed on my 90 k3500 and have been looking around for inspiration. I am currently looking for a gently used utility bed. I am also considering 35" tires with a 4" lift. This will go back into personal fleet use for work. I am gathering ideas from the chase truck rigs now out there for the desert racers.

Power block extreme 4x4 has been doing a 07 dmax with all the cool stuff.

I think the Shawn also runs a utility bed on one of his work trucks and may be able to post a pic.

I was going to ask the brotherhood if anyone was using a utility bed what brands they where using and how they like them. Will help narrow the search.

Keep us posted one this. I've often contemplated a utility box, and a flat bed, and a short bed for the crew cab.

Not an offroad build yet. Went to the pick and pull and scored a tilt column. I wanted to get the stock column wiring working first. Had to replace the turn signal switch, and solder on a new conector on the body side of the harness. Someone had made a flat spring for the turn signal switch out of a jig saw blade. Some real booty fab.

I replaced all the dash lights. I have to troubleshoot a cel code 13/44. Easy enough, new 02 sensor and check for vacumn leaks. Otherwise the truck is super solid. It has most of its factory charm, not a lot has been rigged other than the turnsignal switch and wiring. It has two new fuel pumps, and the dual tank switch works. All the lights work, horn, interior light, what did not work the night I bought it is now functional.

The guy I bought it from installed a new $$$dash pad(not a cover) TPS,map sensor,Egr, belts, hoses, muffler, new nitto highway tires, new class 5 hitch, trailer brake controller. He was a real nice guy, and I paid him $2600 for the truck.

I have had 2 k5's, and 2 CUCCV ton trucks. I have most of the parts to build it. So far I have been loading the bed with all of the tools and home repair parts that I keep in my shop. I have 3 rental houses in 2 different states. I had been looking for a service bed to build a trailer out of so I could have everything on hand when I had to do repairs at one of the houses. I know that building the truck for the life I wish I had is unrealistic. My k5 lives with Bryan because it is worthless here.

Anyway. If I build it, it will be 37's, crossover (not highsteer), swaybar disco's, 52's, full skid, clock the 205, ladder rack, winch bumper, 3x3 square tube rockers, shackle flip in the rear, locker in rear only, york onboard air, oldschool linkarc on board welder.

I have everyting at the shop, except no time, and a set of 52" springs. I will start a build thread if and when.

I have thought about one for a tow rig! Wifey won't allow it..

Service beds rock on a tow rig, you just have to be careful because it makes it really easy to bring EVERYTHING with you and it can get really heavy really fast.

In the background you can see an Excel Gas and Light Company utility bed on my 3/4 ton. It has got some cool features and is built very heavy duty. It is quite different from most utility beds. Future plans call for installing it on my V30 crew cab avatar truck.

I've seen lot's of dodges and newer chevy trucks lifted with utility beds. Search welding truck or welding bed on you tube and there are some cool one's similar to a service body. Lot's of welders with big money build some cool lifted trucks.

Changing my bed plans with Gimpy (my crew cab) away from the flatbed to putting a service bed on it that can tow a gooseneck trailer. Like this one

Going to use the cheap service bed I picked up and cut down the rear/middle boxes to the same height as the tailgate. Will have the bed on by August just not fully built by then.

Are you thinking of adding a underbed box to it as well or leave it as is?
