K30 wheelbase and frame shortening stuff....

I know, I know, my search is weak tonight... :whistle:

hopefully these will be easy enough.... I should know all this, but if it didn't pertain to a K5, I wasn't paying much attention... :doah: ;)

are all K30's 131" or so wheelbase? SRW and DRW....

and what are the methods for shortening the rig easy peezy? how much frame is behind the shackle hangar, that can be lopped off in a weekend? x-member to be made, mod fuel tank, yada, yada....

I really don't wanna change the WB if I can.. just for the fact I'll be driving the truck daily.. and 2, I'll be towing with it... with a 5th wheel in a tube flatbed.. definitely no frame sectioning, etc..
 
thanks.. I'd like it as short as possible without getting bad with the towing... as much, (and rare) as a shortbed 117 sounds appealing to me on the asthetics of a tube flatbed, I think the towing function of the 131 overrides it...

73-87 longbeds, SRW or DRW, are indeed 131.5" WB (as opposed to the shortbed's 117.5".)

Now, I've seen trucks made as cab-n-chassis with beds put on them -- I think tRusty or somebody has one -- and then all bets are off, but in general the majority of the pickemups are as above.

Cab-and-chassis trucks are 4" longer wheelbase at 135.5". And they don't have the bed mounting holes on the tops of the rails either.
 
also kirt makes a killer bolt in gooseneck hitch for our trucks. pics of it in his crewcab build.

and 1 of my k30's is c&c 135.5" wb truck.
