OH thank God. I didn't know you had another red truck. Here I've been thinking this rolled in a ditch all weekend.nope, that was a 84 K10 with 33s and a front truetrac rear Detroit, 4.10s, 383/700/208. it is forsale

I have no interest in aftermarket fi kits. I have seen too many struggle and go back to carbs. Not interested in building a real mp system for this. I have 2 or 3 454s in the garage to build but would want aftermarket heads and a hyd roller. Saving my gen vi for my Chevelle. I have a 8.1 in a Silverado and a mild tune brought out 40hp and 60ftlbs. With a cam and headers 400+hp and 550ftlbs should be easy. I have no 8.1 issues with head bolts, probably still fresh in it with forged pistons and ARP fasteners. I don't need a clutch ball with a 465, it is on the bell housing. I have plenty of hp in my Camaro, I just want a good trailer dragger and drunk farmer puller class winner. Why mess with an 8.1? Just buy a 454, toss in a cam and slap some fuel injection on. You won't be limited down the road with a gm Computer and bad head bolt design.
Then down the road you can put some real heads and stroker crank and will have a better 496 then a 8.1 could ever dream of being.
Plus the 8.1 block doesn't have a clutch provision in the block. So not sure if you ever put a hydro clutch in this truck?
I could never pay that guy what it is worth.I know of a 81 with a sbc that has hydro assist and TSL’s you could get.
I am talking about the head bolt pattern being different and not allowing the 8.1 block to accept aftermarket heads.I have no interest in aftermarket fi kits. Oh I do and I will likely regret stuff. it maybe a bit so if I stumble on another GEN vi I will add afr 265s and see about a Holley or EFI. Don't be sorry, you know my mind is headed on one path but you never know.I am talking about the head bolt pattern being different and not allowing the 8.1 block to accept aftermarket heads.
I'm not a dump truck transmission user so I don't pay attention to that stuff like the 465 bell. I just know that the 8.1 block doesn't have it.
I'm not talking about a sniper kit. But a real holley mfpi. Those setups don't have the problems like the snipers and fitech.
Sorry for replying john, I thought you liked horsepower and would want something more.
Yeah i know about the raylar 540 kit. Read a article that they put one in an avalanche and made 110 hp more at the real wheels.but there is a 540 kit for 8.1s and dart and raylar heads that flow pretty good.
