Hey guys, short time lurker. I've been reminiscing about a '75 or '76 Jimmy that is local to me. it's been sitting since 2003 and of course the top is being used as protection for some lumber sitting next to the truck. other than that, It doesn't appear to be terribly rusty. anyways, it's black with some cool blue striping and some 70's lettering that says "4 by 4" and "Free Flyer". it has the blue interior and bucket seats and dual exhaust.

unfortunately the owner wants the 400 engine out of it and says I can have the rest for $200. I hear the 400 has cooling issues anyways. he says it was parked because of slipping reverse gear and health issues. does this sound like a good deal? there happens to be 350's all over craigslist right now.

I'd love to show everyone pictures, what's the best way to do that on this forum?

thanks!

$200 for the whole truck minus engine, yes thats a good deal. toss in a LS or small block and drive it. or part it out and make profit.

The best way to post pictures it to become a premium member. It lets you post as well as see everyone else's pictures. If you plan to stay around its a cheap investment.

‘75 has the full convertible top all the way to the windshield whereas the ‘76 has the half top that stops just behind the front seats. And yes, $200 is worth it if there aren’t any rust issues. The TH350 tranny is cheap to rebuild as is the SM465 depending if it’s an automatic or manual.

It's an Automatic with the half top.

It appears to have about the same amount of rocker rust as every C10 I've seen lately.

So 76, and yes $200 is a good deal for a k5 with paperwork minus engine

Take $500 cash over there and make a deal. Lots of guys say they want parts when they are going to sell an old truck but when it comes time to take them out it never happens. If it has been sitting for years it will likely just continue to sit. These old square bodies are plentiful, but not like they used to be. Make him an offer he cant refuse and you will be wheeling this summer instead of dreaming on the computer.
