My 84 K5 tailgate hinges are damn-near seized. I've had them soaking in every penetrating lubricant I could think of for over a week without any success. I can't find any information anywhere online for repairing these. LMC has no pin kit; nothing from anyone.

Has anyone tried repairing these before?

I've never tried, only thing I can think of is to remove them, stand them on end, and try to let oil penetrate as best it can. Or even submerge them in oil. Then work the hell out of them.

Are they already off the truck? Just wondering if on the truck, they were monkeyed with and were not put back in properly, binding during their movement?

They are off the truck. I will probably have to do what you suggest. That's the only thing I can think of doing at this time.

I'm heading to a swap meet tomorrow. If I can't find anything, I may message you. Thank you for letting me know.
Stop by spaces 325-329 I have a lot of square stuff for sale, do you want me to bring a tailgate with some usable hinges ?

I've had to heat them up before with a torch, then spray penetrant on them to get them freed up before...my '72 Chevelle wagon had a dual action tail gate that opened like a door or a tailgate and the door set of hinges were seized up pretty tight when I got it--the body was flexing where the hinges bolted on...the heat and liquid wrench worked wonders, but I did have to paint them again..

I would try soaking them in something to dissolve the rust. I don't know if it will get into the pin, but maybe??
I have used Evapo-rust with good results, I have heard that vinegar works.
Then drill a small hole to center of the pin, through the hinge. This will let oil get to the center better.
