We are starting to rebuild our dana 60. Everything should go OK. We are using the pirate4x4 rebuild guide for the king pins. My only concern is getting the lower bearing race installed. They used a seal/bearing install tool.

I do not have such a tool. Can I get away with lightly tapping it in? Using a socket and working around? They were pretty tight to get out.

Any other thoughts? I do not have a socket large enough for the full diameter...

What ever you do, make sure you put even pressure all around at all times.
I bought some Harbor freight tools that covered all these sizes for very cheap, under $30

Never mind. I have the old race. I can use it to tap it in... I knew there was a way, just could not remember....

You might get away with a chunk of wood that's close in size and some gentle tapping, but I use a cheap race driver like Issam.

Yeah I knew I forgot to get something while I was there on sunday...
:haha:

I put mine in with a hammer and punch, mine weren't any worse than any other race. :dunno:

from my experience using old races to put the new ones in,and it may not happen for putting in king pin bearings in but i always grind down the O.D. of the old race with a flap disk so it doesnt get stuck in there upside down which has happened to me when putting in wheel bearing races.

ya, the bearing trick oor.. i froze the hell outta mine and heated the C a ton, and then hammer and punch, works great
