Picked this up over the weekend. My wife couldn't keep the old gas weed eater running and it was too heavy for her to operate for very long.

I had put off mowing the back yard (probably about 1/8 acre) for the last couple months and I haven't ran the trimmer once this year. After mowing the yard I put the freshly charged battery in the trimmer and went to town. I was able to get things back into a presentable state on a single charge. The only drawback is the trimmer uses light duty .065 line. It requires taking your time with thicker climbing vines. But my old gas trimmer had the same issue until I replaced the head. The head on this unit does not appear to be replaceable.

I bought one of those about 6 months ago and i like it. You will find out that when you buy replacement string, it will be better quality and will last longer.

I bought one about 3 months ago. I'm happy with it, though I liked my old worx trimmer better for one single reason, it has the wheel on it for edging.

But ya, that battery goes a loooooong way. I also have the chainsaw, the leaf blower, and the 19" lawnmower. I can mow/weed eat/edge/blow my whole front and back yard with the one 4ah battery that comes with the mower. Need two of the 2ah batteries. But I have like 6 batteries now, all but two (to include the chargers) are still in their boxes.

And for the string, ya the .65 line sucks. It's just fine for grass, but anything thicker it'll eat it up quick. I bought a three pack of the replacement line, only to have extra spools. Then bought .65 ugly line to refill them.

40V LiOn? That should run for a while. Does it come w/ a shoulder strap? And does it have a bump feed or are they pre-cut trimmer strings?

That could make a good Christmas present for my Dad. He currently has an old electric one and has to drag cords around the yard.

No need for shoulder strap, it's light. Automatic string feed, when you get off the trigger it self feeds the string.

Ya I didn't read the instructions when I got it, I was like how the hell does it spool out :haha: I think really its when you pull the trigger isn't it, I feel the 'click' of it spooling out when I pull the trigger (from the stopped head, or at least very slow)

If he has a corded trimmer, he may need or want a strap. Those corded ones are pretty light. The Kobalt isn't very heavy, but probably heavier than a corded trimmer. This is, assuming he's up there in age.

Yeah, something like that. Either way it's an automatic feed type deal.

My wife wants to add a strap. But, when she spends the day lifting 100-200 lbs repeatedly, I will give her a break when she gets home.

She is a production manager now. But it is faster to curl the product than hook it to the overhead crane.

I would be very polite during the inevitable family disagreements... VERY polite...wouldn't even want to call them disagreements, maybe difference of opinion... or more likely "sorry honey, my mistake"... ;)
