Hi All,

I am in the process of installing new body mounts along with the ORD 1" aluminium puck body lift. As you can see from the pics there is a large gap above one of the mounts (position #5) near the fuel filler. Although not torqued down yet none of the other mounts had a gap so I want to make sure that things are not to bad before I start tightening things down.

Also I know shims are required for alignment but this gap looks a little big for shims, it's probably big enough to fit another 1" puck...

Pic #1 Is position #4 on the drivers side, this shows the body resting on the mount

Pic# 2-4 shows various views of # 5 mount which is the one in question

If your body lines and gaps were good before the body lift, then i'd just torque the bolts back down.

As the truck sits now, what do your door gaps look like?

Are your torsion boxes wasted or solid and intact?

When I finished the the Rockers on Both sides the door gaps and fender lines were good. I realized after that I probably should have done the Body Mounts before the Rocker repair but what's done is done...

I don't have the doors on at the moment so perhaps before I tighten anything up I should hang them and shim to get things back in line.

Greg, what are the Torsion boxes? As far as condition there is no bad rust on the truck now, the rockers and floor were the only bad pieces and they are good now.

Yeah, definitely rehang the doors during this phase. If the gaps are still good you can start gently tightening the mounts down (maybe work front-to-back) and see what sort of gap you have at position #5 once the other ones are snug...

If your gaps don't go to hell during that process, then throw a huge set of shims in position #5 and call it done. You can chase the reasons all you want, but its probably related to rust repairs that were completed while the body was slightly tweaked. If your doors still fit correctly consider yourself lucky.... usually that's where any carelessness during rust/panel repair will be most noticeable.

FYI - torsion boxes are those large rectangular structures behind the visible rocker panel areas under each door. They basically keep the truck from folding in half when the doors are open. Pretty important. :D

Ah , Brothers Truck Parts calls those Rocker Boxes... They are good, in fact one of them is brand new... Thanks Greg, I'll hang the doors and cross my fingers. I follow up with some pics when I am done.
