late 70's wire harness

No I have the single headlight setup. I've never looked at the wiring for a quad light setup so I don't know how different they are.

Also I didn't think of the alternator. I should definately upgrade that with the rest of the electrical system.

There's a ton of accessory wires that I will taking out, like the trunk light, power windows, power locks, a/c wires, and third brake light to name a few.

This is also going to be a good time to add a trailer light harness connector.

guess I will be picking your brain later too...

mine says it was delivered today...

now since you have yours.. and im not home...
I know it has a steering column adapter... but what about the instrument gauges???? do we have to cut the old one off and splice the new one on????

As far as gauges, it has all the sender wires built into the harness, but it does not include the connector.

So what made you go with the black harness? It might make wiring a little more confusing...

WOW... Perdy fuse box and you CAN READ IT!!!!!

UGHHH how much of this am I going to need?
There is a bypass wire if you have an alt bigger than 80A.... im gonna install my 140A... but not until after the truck is back up and running...
however I will wire it as if it was in though....

well started pulling out the wires last night..... just the headlights and horn...

already found a few of my problems...

1. Horn wire was pinched.... wire has a severe crease in it.. wonder if it is broke... had intermittent horn problems and I was going to setup a momentary switch to get through inspection in December... not now (and that would pass too as I would be the one hitting the horn when he said to)...

2. pulling out the headlight wires.... 1 ground wire came off... seems they ony do a T tap for all the grounds..... grrrrr. this kit doesnt come with ground wires so gonna have to run new ones..... also one of my other wires for lights fell apart really easy too.... so something was up.....

Im going to run my wires backwards... instead of going up the drivers side.. gonna run them up the passenger side to relays since im going to do the relay headlight upgrade too...

also side note.....

looking into this fuse block.... it is setup the same as the factory unit.... meaning.. even though you dont mount this to the factory location..... you can...

will give better pics when I do it....

meaning.... you unhook the under hood harness..... remove old harness from inside the cab... pull apart the old harness.... it is 2 pieces.... take the part that mounts to the firewall.... cut all wires off of it. and it SHOULD snap onto the new fuse block and then bolt onto the firewall....
so no need to patch the hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think I led you in the right direction as far as suggesting this wiring setup? Are you pleased with the quality?

I had another guy here in CO recommend this setup to me and it was cheap so that's why I used it on my truck. I thought it was an absolute bargain for the product compared to the price. I'm sure Painless wirings setup is nicer, but at four times the cost

I'm just interested in case this comes up again

it aint in yet.... but we got a block party tomorrow.. so wont be able to snap them for a bit...

but it looks like our current fuse blocks.. if you seperate the 2....

It was me that you persuaded into getting the harness. I thank you so much because this harness is the tits plus i saved $400 vs. going painless.
