I am looking at buying a late model 205 with transmission and it looks like it is 1" longer. Are there any disadvantages to this unit?

Disadvantages how?
Who are you buying it from?
I have that setup for sale too. :D

There is one in so cal and one in Bakersfield.

I am in Fresno so I may end up going to Bakersfield depending on the price.

The unit in LA is much cheaper but it is also far away so alas the difference is made up for in Gas.

I was not sure as to how the round adapter vs figure 8 was in strength comparison.

If someone can bring it to me here ( Fresno California) I will pay $400.00 cash.

If you are getting the setup for less than $400 go for it.
My setup is $500 for all (tcase adapter and tranny)
The round to round adapter is stronger than the round to figure 8.:D

Looks like I am not going to Bakersfield it looks like LA is the ticket.

Wow the fact I have to travel 5 hours to get a transmission and transfer case combo is insane but worth it.

My engine is only putting out 400hp but I like to drive hard so the 400 205 combo is a must.

So I take it your 400SBC worked out :D

Yes but I will still be looking for another sbc 400 or maybe a bb 454 because the truck has a BAR sticker for a 454 conversion... I prefer the 400 though because I don’t need to drop my mileage from 9 miles to the gallon to 5 miles per gallon.

So yes I will be looking in the near future. I know a guy in sac who has a 400 but I am not sure what its bore is..lol

My next project is my mailbox. Some kids were messing with it so I am making a sheet metal one out of 3/4 inch thick steel. I can’t wait to se the broken bat parts all around it.

I think that guy in sac would be ME :D
I will take the heads off and find out what the bore is.

There are two other engine nuts behind my name who are always looking for good deals on old iron blocks so let me know if you come across any old iron especially Chevy and Dodge.

I am tight on my budget right now so I needed the deal I got on the 400-205 but I cant share the price because it was not sane and I am sure the price was due to lack of interest over time. I am immediately rebuilding the 400.

So what about that SBC bore any good news?
