truck is a 86 m1008. 4k on the motor. bad injection pump?? any ideas? thanks

Mine was doing that recently, there were two things wrong, and I don't know which one fixed which driveability issues. The IP was hosed (cracked in the housing) AND the filter was full of goo. Try changing the filter first.

I dont know what was in the filter. the fuel had gelled up a few times since the last filter change, and I run all kinds of horrible things in that truck (used engine oil, used tranny fluid, #2, keroseen, heater oil... pretty much anything that burns).

huh didnt know you could run that. i have been running home heating fuel. get it from a friend. he says its diesel fuel with red dye.

No it's not, the home heating fuel is a different product, very close and you can run it but if it is red be carefull, sometimes DOT checks diesel trucks for the dye in their tanks and the IP, you could get a hefty fine if they catch you running it on road.

wow thanks thought that was only on big rigs.

Well they check it all the time on big rigs, but they have the right to and should check it for any on road vehicle, but they haven't bothered in the past few years, it's also not easy for them to recognise diesel trucks from gas trucks and they will not herass evry car owner to check if it's diesel or gas and then check the red dye.
So you probably are safe, but I wouldn't take the risk.

here, heating oil is just #1 diesel with dye. they usually don't check small vehicles for dye cause its too hard to get at the fuel, unless you have a slip tank. anyone i know that got a ticket was running a slip tank

slip tank, eoutside tank in your box that they can dip easy.
people run heating oil as they don't have to pay road tax on it
