my build with the winch in the back.... if you were to do what I did and add say 1x1 square tube you could flat bed it..... or cut a hole in the back and put a door there..... that is what im going to do

3/8 C-channel
35" long x 12" wide... cut the sides to be flat plate then she will bolt right in there...

nice,i like it,im tempted to do the same type setup as yours with the rear winch, but im not too keen on cutting my bed all up.

i have a question, what kind of snorkel are you running? custom i take it,or a refab of a particular model? i kinda need one for my 85,it sucks up water BIG time.

i checked your website, and cant find too many available pics

that is what im saying.... if you drop the hanger down 1" you will not have to cut the bed.. however how are you going to reach the release handle for the winch????

arb snorkel for a fj-80 landcruizer.... bought from www.4x4connection.com . great guys....

while this snorkel is not cheap... does look good.... :wink1:

$300 to my door for snorkel
$010 holley carb intake adapter from chevy van in junkyard
$020 home depot pvc

$330

seems every upgrade on trucks aint cheap...

my snorkel is not waterproof as it is merely to allow you time to decide if you want to punch it for 20 feet or backup because you are sinking quick and hvae 300 feet to go.... or simply yer stuck and someone can try and pull you out quickly before you take on too much water :haha:

im going to put 1" square tube around the winch hole.. with a lid that I can open....
Winch3.jpg

droppin it down 1" wont make it hang down too much... but look at how nice that is....
Winch2.jpg

well,to be honest id rather spend 330 on a snorkel, then another few grand on a replacement motor, the last time i damn near totally frigged my motor by sucking water in.

as for the rear winch mount, its odd how similar our trucks are,i was thinking about making a extension rod that would mount to the rear bumper,or somehow to support it,so the winch rod can be moved without having to cut the body up,no offense but my trucks a daily driver, and is just to damn nice to be cutting up lol.

why exactly isnt your snorkel totally sealed?

Anybody got pics of their non-winch and non-OEM front bumper, post up!

There's plenty of room to add a winch behind the bumper.

All the bumpers I have built have been built for the best approach and departure angles.

The reason I don't want a winch bumper is because I have a multi-mount winch, all I need is a reciever. I find a fixed winch to the front very limiting (IMHO). Plus, my tilt-front clip needs to clear the thing when it's tilted up. Plus, leaving a winch on the front (or back) year round around here is a early death sentence for your winch. Snow, salt corrosion sets in a matter of months during 1 winter here.

THanks for all the pics so far. Keep 'em coming!
