License/Sorry/12b...

As long as you are satisfied with the deal that is all that matters. People would call me a moron or other fine words if they knew what I paid for my axles. But when I priced it out, lockers, 4 wheel disc, hydro steer, upgraded shafts and so on. It was well worth it to me.

You are the only one that has to be happy with the price you paid.

Welcome back!!!!

Thanks guys, I have been calling around to places in town to get a rough idea of what it would cost to have my 10b rebuilt w/ a master install kit and gears and the range was $750-$900 just to do my rear 10b!
That being said I wouldn't mind offering up $400 and going from there with the guy. If I can get it for that cool, if not then we can meet in the middle at $450 and I would still be ok w/ it.
I'll search and see if I can find that conversion u-joint...what is on the 12b's as far as u-joints go?

-Avery

There are no conversion u-joints from half ton to half ton axles.

Only thing I haven't seen mentioned yet with the 12bolt swap is the pinion yoke. Most 12 bolts have a smaller pinion yoke than a 10bolt. So you can either use a conversion joint... Or re-use the 10bolt yoke and buy a new seal. I cant remember the part number off the top of my head but there is one out there for this app...

So I either need a conversion joint to replace the one on the 12b with so that it'll match up to the drive shaft which is designed for a 10b size yoke....
Or I can re-use the yoke off of my current 10b and buy a new seal for it...

That was what I was talking about....

10 bolt has nothing to do with a 1330 or 1310 . The rear 10 bolt is a s44 . Same size diameter ( or close ) to 1330 caps , but a 1330 won't fit at all . 1310 is for 12 bolts with an automatic . He needs a s44 to 1310 joint ( or s44 to 1350 if hes lucky ) :thumb:

Look in the post your part number thread , and subcribe to that thread so its remembered !!

I just talked to Jessie @ HAD and he said that he has the conversion joint I need and it's about $30.

I think once Craig sends me the pictures of his axle this evening I'll ask him if it's a 1310 just to be sure. If it is then I'll order that conversion from Jessie then hopefully be able to drive over and pick it up from Craig within a week or so.

Thanks for the help guys, this seems like a perfect setup for me.

Avery, can I please move this thread to the Garage? It's mostly tech related, and belongs in there.

Yeah sure, it was originally about my license and apology to the community so I had it in here but we've been going off on the 12b so go for it!

Put $200 hundred in each pocket and start there..... Cash talks for some people. You can always offer more but you can never come back down...

Oh yeah, get a 14 bolt:laugh:

lol when my mom and dad went on a cruise to Mexico with two really close friends my mom's friend would do that. She would put all of her money in one pocket then put a couple $5's in the other pocket. Worked every time. ;)

I'm not really into that sort of thing though. I'll make him a reasonable offer of high $300 to low $400's and if he wants to negotiate something in the middle of what I offered and what he was asking I might go for it but I don't play games w/ people.

Oh and I would like a 6 lug 14sf but I can't fine one w/ gears, a locker, new seals/bearings, etc. for this price. lol as a matter of fact I can't find a 14sf at all. I called the small pick and pull place and they didn't have any and the big pick and pull place didn't have a line to talk to them, plus they seem to only have 90% cars, not too many trucks.

thats how i bought my last truck. started with $1500 in my front pocket and $200 in several different pockets.

it seems like it would work well for you. I have wheeled with lots of guys with 10b and 12bs and the 12bs seem to last longer. Just dont hit the throttle hard ever roll into it. Guess I haven't been on in a while cause I didn't know you were gone. Welcome back and I am certainly glad to have you back and will offer any advice you want, even on simple stuff :D

If you want a 12 bolt, come up to concord and I will give you one for free. I need to get rid of the one in my back yard. It came out of my 75 with factory gears and posi, but it is free.

yeah but it probably doesn't have better gears than 4.56's and I'll blow up a true posi since I do 95% street driving.

Put your money in your wallet, what you are willing to pay. When you talk to the seller about price, pull your wallet out, with him there watching. Tell him you have "xx" amount of cash. Sometimes when they watch you empty your wallet they will sell for less. Worked for me a few times.
