License/Sorry/12b...

I just e-mailed him again a day or so ago and he is still VERY set on $500. I offered $400 cash and I'll drive to his house, pick it up and he won't have to do anything but take the $400.
Plus I asked him about the brakes and he said they are drums obviously and they need to be rebuilt so that's the reasoning behind the $400 offer.
He is still stuck and won't budge. I dunno, we'll see what happens.

Don't waste Your time on a 12 bolt if You already have a 10 bolt. There is no advantage. If You do want a beefier axle and want to keep it 6 lug then get a SF 14 bolt. Look under light duty 3/4 tons and extra cab Z71's for a SF 14 bolt.
You should also consider doing a gear swap Yourself kits are fairly cheap and there are lots of how to books on how to do a gear swap. All You need is a dial indicator which You can rent at most parts house's.

Yeah it's not a matter of me doing it, I have the access to the tools and I know a couple guys that have done gear swaps the right way with no problems so I could use them if I want.
The reason for getting that 12b is because it already has a locker, 4.56's and new seals, bearings, etc.
If I can get him to come down some then it is a great deal, if not then I'll continue my 14sf search.

Oh and I just realized that was you Corey...what's up w/ the new Avatar and "Ban Can Can", lol.

I say prioritize, get it running first(tranny). Once you start putting in OR miles, you be able to make choices with surgical precision.:D

Here is my 2 cents and the same I wish I would have done from the start. Save up and start collecting the right parts. Get a 14bff and either a 8 lug frontend from or the parts to convert yours. Also my opinion if your gonna run your 38s, I'd get with 4.56s, you will be glad in the long run. And if you want to save coin and stay with your 38s you have, get some 15x10 8 lug wheels.

Or pony up and get a 6 lug 14bff built. Thats kinda what I'm looking at down the road for my k10, just to be different.

That is a fine point. Honestly I thought I could get him down from $500 but the guy won't budge so I guess it's his loss. I doubt he'll find someone locally (wouldn't want to pay shipping for a 1/2 ton axle) that wants a 12b w/ 4.56's and a locker. The only person is going to be someone like me w/ a truck because 4/56's are too deep for a hot rod or something along those lines I would think.

I was waiting around for jp0863 because he has that 3/4 ton burb that he is going to part out when he has the time plus he's in Clovis which is right next door to Fresno. I bet I could do that and sell my current bling bling 6 lug rims w/ tires and have enough to get a set of steelie 8 lug rims and a conversion joint for the rear d-shaft. Plus my rear shaft is too short currently and is pulling out the tailshaft in the transfercase so w/ the 14ff it would push that back in, another plus.

NAPA online has conversion joints, you'll need dimensions.

of what? I run an s44 so couldn't I get an s44 to 1350 for the 14bff?

I got an e-mail back from him a few days ago that said....

"here are the pics. I included the picture of both the
1310 yoke and 1350 yoke."

So it looks like he has it setup to run a 1310 but also has the yoke to run the 1350 that I could swap on. I am going to give this another whirl as I am really liking the idea of just swapping this in and not having to worry about anything but the conversion joint....
