Light To Gauges Question (Couldn't Find Answer)

He said he replaced the switch with sender. In either position a gauge sender would work.

But yes, valid statement, make sure to swap out the idiot light switch, not the oil pressure switch for the fuel system.

Lol I replaced the sender not the fuel switch don't worry. It probably is a ground, now to find a diagram of where all the grounds are supposed to be. The ground missing would probably explain the temp gauge jumping when I crank it over as well

On older trucks like my 82 and 85 there is a black ground wire that runs to the cluster down to the kick panel area near the e-brake mechanism/pedal,some have it screwed down a bit higher up under the dash ,the wire is about a 12 gauge with a ring connector on it..its hard to see, easy to miss...if its missing you can always add a ground wire..make sure the ground does no contact the printed circuit on the back of the dash or any of the gauges contacts or it'll go up in smoke..

Idiots to gauges

I switched on my 78
from idots to factory gauges and tach
had to add a ground for the gas gauge, but that also stopped the bounce too
had to move the wires for the turn signals, gas gauge
stock the tach harness was seperate and ran from under hood
i hooked my to the black pink power ,while removeing the seat belt buzzer
there is a big ground joint about a foot from the cluster plug
find it and add more grounds,as they all go down to one wire here
I added a second colour leds to mine
white works normal, red leds come on when running,or switched off

All pins are correct. Also replaced bulb in the hvac controls, that works. However the light that goes in the 4wd shifter does not light up when I turn the lights on (new bulb). Oil pressure I have yetto work on since I have focused on getting the interior together. Any special ground for this bulb??

Its the light that lights up the shift indicator next to the 4wd shifter. I figure I can find out why that isn't working. Perhaps it will link me close to the problem. Who knows lol.

Figured I'd update. It is obvious that the current headlight switch is bad (all lights flutter when I touch the thing)

Also was told that the other headlight switch I had was causing problems in my buddies Suburban (thanks for telling me lol)

Anyways, when you go to Rock Auto there are 3 different AcDelco headlight switches, one that is for 4wd?? Figured I would grab that up.

Also going to unplug the oil pressure sensor tomorrow and see if when I turn the key on it goes past 60 again, or if it stays at 0.
