Lightened stock hood?

I'm really interested in how this works out. That hood is in my future. Well it was...I'm assuming you've could them and asked about it? I'd definitely make contact with them before dinking around with either truck or hood. No point of screwing anything if there was a mistake in the mold or something. Please let us know how it works out.
That's what I was thinking. It looks to me like if that brace were a little further forward that it would clear everything.

If it comes to modding anything thing, the hood is way, way easier to work with. Cut off the offending part. Take some cardboard or foam and shape the core of a new brace. Glue it to the underside of the hood. Fair-in the inside corner where the brace meets the hood with bondo or wood. You don't want a sharp corner there as that makes getting the 'glass to lay flat more difficult and it's not as strong. Lay wetted 'glass over the core and onto the hood.
Note that if you use Styrene insulation foam (like from a home store) that you'll need to paint it first with latex paint to keep the resin from dissolving it.

Well, I got the hood to fit down by cutting out the support ribs. Now all I have to do is glass them in in a different spot. I think I will get it to work. I will try and take some pics when I can. Darn farming gets in the way of working on toys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did not get time to work on the hood any more today but I took some pictures. You can see where I cut the bracing off and I will just move it and reglass it in a different spot. I hope it works. I can tell the hood is a little more flimsy side to side but it isn't really that bad. I'm still gonna glass in the braces though.

Thought I would bring this back around. I finally got the hood all fixed up and fitted. It is getting painted right now. When I get it back on, I will take some pictures. I am painting it a flat black so there is no glare on sunny days.
