Looking for marketing ideas

I would join if there was some kind of way that, for a reasonable amount of money, you could have a lifetime membership. $25 a year is really steep.

Also, this website needs to get faster. I know you're trying all you can, but it's not cutting it. I visit three messege boards on a regular basis. This one is WAY slower than any of the others.

I have an idea. Lets each of us members all search our brains and sharpen our marketing skills. If you know of a manufacturer who would be interested in giving discounts for advertising, by all means call them. Of course, you may want to run this by Steve first. I have talked to him at length about this before. I mentioned calling S&W Racecars and asking them if they would be interested in the membership deal. Perhaps they would give us a good discount on the Cage kit. I know alot of you are planning cage installations soon.

Usually every time I get involved in "Hosting" a K5 related event, I call these vendors. You would be suprised at how interested they are in getting their product out on the market. They spend big dollars in advertisement per year. All they are waiting for is someone to do the leg work for them. Its a win - win situation. They dont have to pay the salary of a marketing guru, and we have just solved their problem by finding the advertising for them. Not sure if this makes sense, but it works for me.

Steve, I will contact S&W racecars real soon, I promise

I suppose you are thinking of taking it to the next level....?
We are getting big enough and mature enough (well, most of the time) that we should be able to start pulling in formal Sponsors that will pay for advertising and offer group discounts etc....

Once again I will point you to corvetteforum.com - check out their vendor area. Very active and apparently good deals for the vendors and customers.

if more people would join he would have the money to make it faster and also 25 a year is not to steep think of the money you save by getting help from here if you get help just one time and it saves you more than $25 then you come out ahead
also what other bords do you visit? how much trafic do they see this site is fast ya im on a cable modem but it is faster than the por board
also this is all coming out of steves pocket think of it this way how much would you pay out of your pocket to run a site?

I like the Mud Flap idea. My truck doesn't need mudflaps, but I would sport a set of Colorado K5.com Built Not Bought mudflaps.

My Chevy isn't broken, its just out of gas.

ok an idea for the people who do think $25 a year is to much what about say for 12.50 a year they get a orange name and they can have a limited amount of room for pics and be able to have a side pic
and the $25 a year people get an orange name unlimited(within reason) room for pics and the ability to post pics in the forum (it seams alot of people want this back) and be able to have the side pic
and the blue members stay how it is but dont get the side pic
just a few ideas

This just kinda hit me, but why don't we do some cruise-ins on Friday nights/weekends. It could be as simple as picking a Sonic's drive-in and getting about twenty people to meet there. Fun for the whole family!

Sure, most of our rigs are for the trail, but you'll get a lot of attention (hopefully the GOOD kind!) if you pound the pavement in a thundering herd of K5s! It'd be really cool to get some small white CK5 flags or something to fly on our antennas while we're out crusing.

This is something else my old car club in Indiana did a lot. Friday evening cruises around town, swing into a place for a bite to eat, and get lots of people walking over to us to look at the cars and talk about them.

The Cruise night is a good idea. Most local places will give group discounts if you bring people often.

Having said that, how about turning this into a club type deal with regional (corporate word) clubs in each area. I would like to have a GM based club in the area.

A lot of F-Body guys do this... They have sub groups of a main club (http://www.thirdgen.org), and plan their own local events like car shows and cruise-ins.

Maybe we should have regional boards on CK5?

I know this doesn't help with marketing, but it would help with organization and might get more social events going. That would ultimately help CK5!

I think what you're looking for is a marketing gimmick, right?
How about seeing what goodies you can get donated from companies and then having an online raffle to give them away. Tickets would be $1 each and you can buy as many as you can afford, the more you buy the better your chances.

Just curious Tim, what other forums do you visit? I don't think that $2.08 per month is steep for the fun you have here, hell go to the movies and see how much you spend after one ticket, one popcorn, one Pepsi and one box of m&m's then double it if you have a date, hmm, I think you just spent more than $25.00.
As far as the speed goes that will increase when I can afford more memory, right now I spent to much just to get it where it is now but it will happen, I am dedicated to making it the best out there.

Steve, how about a "Built Not bought" flag that we could fly behind our trucks. About 3'x4'. We could also fly it at events we go to so we could find each other and advertise. Us So Cal Big Dawgs did the MDA benifit this last weekend and I did some advertising for the site.

It's a wheelbase thing, you wouldn't understand.

steve the flag idea would be cool...i would fly one all the time

i still like the idea of cooley cups for our "beverages"...i know i use em all the time and it would be a good way to show our ck5 pride...

Later

Just tap it in...tappity tap tap...

As far as content, this is the absolute best site I've ever visited. I am so thankful it's here. The guys and gals here are so knowledgeable it's unbelieveable sometimes. You already have the best site out there, even if it could use some improving.

I really didn't want to post that, but I figured anything constructive can help the site improve. I will join as soon as I can (read, when I get a job, which seems difficult right now. My truck has been down for over a month too, so I'm on the shoeleather express. I really don't have that much of a problem spending the $25, except money really sucks for me right now).

Just a suggestion but maybe a silverado or cheyennne membership that for a certain price you get the membership and a t-shirt and side sticker for a specific amount . That way you get both a membership and sell some products wich both generate some revenue. Just an idea. Thanks for the great site!!!!

I would definitely love one of those. I'd fly it at the 4x4 show.

Sorry to hear about not having a job, I didn't really aim that toward you what I meant I guess is that 25.00 really doesn't buy much these days. Thanks for the ideas everyone, I still have a few more ideas up my sleave also.

Okay...here's a few ideas, I am in N.E. Ohio...5 minutes from Paceparts.com, 45 minutes from Summit Racing, and 20 minutes from Denman Tire. I have talked up this site to people I have met in the woods who are running Chevy. How about we ALL start SELLING CK5 where we live? Paceparts.com is the biggest shipper of crate motors in the country, and its only 5 minutes from me. We can all participate by buying from our suppliers.

9/11/01..Never forget...Never forgive

With how much we spend on our trucks $25 is pocket change in comparison. Getting more vendors would be a big help.
