Loose Hub Nuts - 10 bolt

Dorman now has those hub nuts + washers available,if you dont feel like going to a GM dealership...

Yep, ordered doorman from Rockauto.

I wanted all new stuff, and for $30, it was worth my time in not having to go to the store. :haha:

It's too bad you can't use a "high-shear rotating nut" like you find on big Danas. It goes on in one piece, can't back off and doesn't take big torque to "lock". I don't see why somebody doesn't alter the design to fit 10-bolt/D44 and sell it aftermarket.

If you are talking about the ones that take a special wrench to remove, my 89 F250 came with those from the factory.
You can tighten them up with a regular tab type hub wrench, and it kinda ratchets.
But, the wrench to take it off has a tube in the center that pushes a sleeve back to release it when you take it off.

One day, the driver side wheel on my truck started wobbling. I pulled the locking hub off, and found that the locking nut had come apart in two pieces.
The main parts did not break. Its made in several pieces, and whatever holds them together broke, and it just came apart.
Since the nut locked when it was together, it did not do so when it came apart, and backed off.
I went to the Ford place, and the parts guy, who I knew well, told me he had seen several do that.
He sold me the original style with two nuts and the washer.

As far as I remember, I still have a self locker on the passenger side and the three part on the driver side.
That has been several years ago, so I assume they have fixed the problem by now.
