Louder is better. Course back in my Volkswagen days I used to run a straight stinger with no baffle so....

My truck is pretty loud and I wouldent have it any other way, but mine sounds nice in my opinion(and so ive been told) I agree I cant stand to drive a truck far from stock and not hear the motor to me it helps you drive it even though I have a tach I can tell what its reading just by the sound of the motor. BUT I also agree on raged motors loud is not good when your at WTO and hardly moving. But with that 383 it shouldent be a problem btw what kinnda compression are you running? you may want to go 3" after the mufflers
 
I got 305 heads, but I took some meat out of the chambers when I unshrouded. I think I am now running about 9.5:1, I am running 87 octane with no problems. 3" would sound good, but 2.5 is good enough from lower rpm velocity. I only got 305 heads right now anyway. By the end of the summer, if I find a real job, I will have upgraded the heads, then upgrade the other restrictions like exhaust and TBI unit.
 
yea... your gonna wanna ditch those 305 heads? What size intake are they 1.84?

Those of you thinking about running single chamber flowmasters.... dont, they are loud. Sound like flowmasters at low rpm, then sound like straight pipe above 4,000 rpm. I had them for awhile. Cops didnt like it. Went to magnaflows. Like them alot.

So my vote is loud enough to hear, but not enough to piss off the cops.

Yes, I know it sucks. I don't have money, i'm a broke ass in dept up to my eyeballs. I hope I find a real job this summer so I can put something reasonable like Vortec or something on it to unleash its full potential. Yes they are 1.84s. Its got hella torque below 2000 RPMs though.

Sir, I live here in the great state of Michigan, we don't have emissions /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif Although I am not condoning pollution, I don't have cats. Its fuel injected so that helps /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Another friend says hes got a couple 2.5" Borlas, well see if I can get those. FREE!
 
Just curious. Cats kill any good sound. Im starting to like these magnaflows. SOund like glasspacks only alot deeper and have no cackle(sp?) when you let off the throttle at high RPMs.

I work at an exhaust shop (not a midas /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif). I hear all sorts of mufflers. Got any questions feel free to PM me. And for the first time I had my pipes ran out the back(well kinda) that also makes it sound differnt in the cab.
