Sup fellas.... It's been a longwhile since I've posted in here... figured y'all would enjoy seeing my trucks latest changes..:D:D

Well... after have 4 gen 1 sbc in my truck since I've owned it... and all of them blowing up. -_- I decided to step up to a LSX.
I used to have a 99 T/A loved the power and reliability of the motor, sold it to buy my diesel. Decided I wanted another LSX ...
Started to part out my 383, guy offered to paint the truck for the heads, serpentine system, intake rockers, and my MSD box. Working through all the bodywork now. Finished product will be "Fiji blue" its a honda color, with a basic GM white top.

Current plan is as follows;
Exhaust:shoefield headers, custom Xpipe, magnapacks/dumps
Intake: factory truck
Wiring:factory modified harness, tied into fuse/relay center from junkyard
Fuel: TBI sending unit, swapping pump out with Walbro 255, using truck intake regulator. Connect factory hardlines to intake via nylon or whatever the new factory hoses consist of.
I ended up getting a cam/springs in a pretty good deal, I was going to throw it in as is and ride out... but at this point I may as well do a full rebuild if I'm tearing it down far enough to do a cam swap.
Onto the Pix...

I now have TWO pieces of cranks exactly the same....
F*CK Eagle parts...
Onto the new stuff...
Currect truck's state
Following is just one rust spot, I've done the rockers/floors long before. This time I welded up all the factory trim holes, fixed the remaining rust. If people care I can show pix of that as well.
Only badge will be LSX on the cowl, and CHEVROLET on the tailgate. :D

Friend and I went in on a deal to buy a bunch of truck LSX parts, put one of the blocks in the truck to "test fit" everything for real. Stuff fits like a glove. :)

So.. the headers WILL FIT 4x4 78-87 K series truck, I'm going to notch the frame just a tad. They're quite close when installed, they won't rub as is. But the added clearance will make me more comfortable, also you can't use the factory T-case/bellhousing torque rod. For the record this is an 8" lift.

Figured I'd post it up, I'll update it as progress goes on, paint probably won't get finished till next weekend.
Any question, comments, or Tips!?! Post em up!!
Chris

Cool, i was wondering about the headers also. But that question was answered.

You said you got a cam.

Which cam and computer are you using.

Well, its a cam that was made to "mimic" TSP sleeper cam.

220/220 duration, .581/.581 on a 114 lsa

Larger than stock, but won't be obnoxious like most LSX cams.

I'm using a factory 03 computer, going to have a friend with HP tuners delete all the BS then either he or some person will tune it.

Im switching to a 87 TBI pump/sending unit, but ditching the stock pump in favor of a walbro 255.

Going to use the factory regulator on the LQ4 intake.

No problem, if you're using a car style intake/fuel rails you can run a corvette filter/regulator.

For stock ish applications this is supposed to work flawlessly, but since I already have feed/return fuel lines ran the length of the truck I opted to utilize the truck's regulator.

motor came out of a 2003 2500, I am buying someone elses project. Harness is all made and done, Computer is tuned and ready to go, switched over to cable. I get a new fuel pump for in tank, pretty much what is left for me is to buy motor mounts, either use the manifolds or buy the headers you are using, figure out what I will do about fuel system, its a 86 blazer that I am putting it into. Motor is stock except for computer tune.
if you dont mind, would like to ask you questions as I go.

Looking good. There's a lot of days I wish I would have went this direction myself. My 383 broke the crank in the same place which is what had me looking for a lq4... what are the odds?

Them headers.. lol I called them prior to ordering, if they don't fit I can send them back for the cost of shipping. But looks like I won't be needing too.:D:woot:

just looked at the website. Their website says i wont fit on 4x4 models. are u sure the front driveshaft wont be in the way?

Yes, I've ran two sets now. One with an auto, one with a stick.

The drivers side collector had to get cut off and rotated for the O2 to clear the frame/shackle/trans case.

I'm running 8" springs in the front, so it drops off fairly quick, but even still the headers aren't that close to the front shaft.

They're designed for trucks with a drivers side front shaft, not pass side.

Any updates to this? I am in the same spot and considering a 383 kit for my scb but am drawn to this swap. The wiring complexity is keeping me away
