M1028- [under new management]

^^This! I dig it! Except I'd probably go with the darker OD green from WWII. And a black star on the door to match my black rims and roll bar. Green grille and brush guard.

Martin- I've seen that K5- I'm hoping to hold out for something thats nearly bare bones tub and frame so I don't have to pay for a bunch of crap that I'm not going to use anyway.

Hypocritically enough, this k5 looks sexy. I would totally take it if I had the coin. The wheels suck, but I'm a sucker for grey and I would be ok with throwing away a bunch of crap I didn't need on this one. lol

At any rate, the K5 movement could be very expensive, so I think I'll just stick with the ol' M1028 for now.......

I know the guy that ownss that, Think hed take about 3500 for it, and you could sell them wheels for at least 1K

Finally got the truck back! Might have a line on a free gallon or two of Blackhawk CARC paint..... And for some eye candy- What do you think this is going to be?

A few more clues...

The third pic should get rid of any doubt as to what is happening here :D

I think i designed a sufficient amount of beef into this thing....

Got it home, threw some green on it, and what do you know, it bolted right up. :D

I left an inch and a half between the end of the frame and the OD of the clevis, so hopefully in the future I can redrill my shackle hangar holes 1.5 forward, which will get me a better shackle angle, and suck in the hitch that amount also. Should be pretty cool.

John- Way too nice? I figure while I have a CNC plasma at my disposal I might as well use it if all I have to do is pay for material ;) The plates are 3/8 BTW, and all the tube is .250 wall. Ironically enough, the actual receiver tube that I purchased from the store is the least beefy part. So I beefed it up with another 3/8 bottom plate :D

I think I done good!

I think you need more supports here. Just those welds dont seem safe enough to me to actually tow with :dunno:

Or is that plate on the bottom tired to the pipe as well?

Looks badass as FOCK though!!! :thumb:

Bottom 3/8 plate is burned to both the round and square tube around the entire perimeter that they meet. If that makes sense. As far as the tube being all by itself with no supports, its a similar design as millions of other hitches on the road, and mine has thicker material throughout. I thought about a top plate, but it wouldn't have cleared the bed, and I didn't think it was necessary. I'll get a few close up pics shortly.. Making dinner at the moment ;)
