make your own cold air intake.....

One of my friends did it. It wasn't too bad most of the time but as soon as you wanted the heater you smelled gas. With an open cab I doubt you'd ever even know...

no tuning issues, i've never had a vehicle that the intake didnt smell of gas. mounting it away from the passenger side would make it less noticable, but the vent on the drivers side is routed the same as the passenger side on a non-ac truck. if you have an AC truck, the kickpanel vent is non existant, so no worries.

If you pulled the cowl panel you could make a little scoop to direct air from the base of the windshield to the tube, could also keep the gas smell out of the cab. Would be a good idea to screen the "scoop" and leave the bottom open so it doesn't intake water. Cowl induction is more effective than ram air anyway.

ram is pretty much ineffective. Many places have tested it and found you have to do like 140 to even 1PSI of force out of a ram air setup. The base of the windshield, air swirls around at the base of the windshield. It cleans the air a little bit, and creates a little pressure, again its not going to create boost but IMO its a better setup. All ram air really does is let you bring in cooler outside air, same for the most part as cowl induction(REAL COWL INDUCTION, not 90% of the hoods out there).

Thor's idea using the cowl seems to make a lot of sense. Thor how has this worked for you? Has anyone else done this or see any problems doing so?

i thought of this idea too, but was worryed because when i hit high water and it rolls over my hood, it flows right in there, a little better but not quite perfect yet, i am working on a new idea:cool1::grin:

hey guys... ram air and cowl induction dont do jack shiat when you are going .5mph :doah:

sorry, couldnt resist
