Don't forget that some of the marine engines runs backwards. (counter rotate)

that could be bad news with an auto trany, but with a stick you could have a ton of reverse gears and at least one forward.

If you are using a marine engine as a core only use a fresh water one. I belive the only difrent parts are the starter, cam, front and rear main seals, and the pistons are installed backwards dew to wristpin offset and thrust direction(just flip them around).

So, then you could flip your 14BFF upside down for high pinion fun!

I think PARF's got the right idea...
Get a Marine 502 engine if it runs the "backwards" way.
Get a 4 speed.
Get a 14bolt FF flip it around and weld the shockmounts/ spring perches on the opposite side making it a high clearance axle.

Who says that two wrongs don't make a right!?

No, just looking through the posts and saw a few people asking about marine engines. Also thought that a few that were wondering about them should know in advance.
When I was a truck driver I used to haul for Caterpillar Company out of Peoria IL. and used to haul a bunch of engine cores. I had my eye on a 3408 Cat engine for my truck (my Peterbilt, not my Blazer) and learned of the counter rotating engines then. Almost made an $8,000 boo boo.
