I hope someone can answer this question.. I'm changing out stuff on my beloved 74 K5, and I ordered a new gauge cluster for it. The old one barely had any place left to hold a mounting screw. Anyhow when I ordered this I didn't realize I had a mechanical oil pressure gauge. It has an electric one. So in my wisdom I'm stuck. Which is easier changing from mechanical to electric or swapping out the gauge.

Changing to electric. Get the proper sending unit, and run the proper wires (three: 12V+, ground, and the wire from the sending unit. That's it.

Not sure what gauges you ended up with, but aftermarket gauges don't work with GM sending units (except fuel level) so you need to buy a sending unit that has the right threads for the head, and is made to work with your gauge.
