i have 383 in my 79 k20 its a 350 bored 30 over /400 crank and rods /with a comp cams 12-242-2 duration at 6 deg. 268/280/// at 50 deg. 224/230 with pro comp alum .heads with a 31th head gasket.i am looking to redo the qjet its a 800 cfm off a 85 454.. i drilled out the 2 air screws to 3/32nds and now it has a better idle. what else can do to improve the performance of the qjet? if not who sells a modified qjet that would be better for my 383? any ideals help

What is wrong with it now?

If I were you, I'd go buy the book "Rochester Quadrajets" by Doug Roe. All sorts of cool info in there. I know there is another book on Q-jets out there that comes highly recommended as well. I *think* Doug Roe was involved in the Q-jet at the OEM level.

With that book and a trip to a experienced chassis dyno my 454 with a qjet was night and day better. HUGE difference.

Is it idling ok now? If not, you can pull and drill the idle circuits. Jets, primary rods, secondary rods. Lots of things internally to do for better performance from the quadrajet.
