awesome, just cuttin a truck cab apart welding it to the back and making a flatbed after that?

No thats my dad's 77 C-30 crewcab dually its rust free! I wouldn't tear that truck apart. I actually got a cab from a friend for a $100 its in pretty good shape

Alright, here's some pictures of what I got done yesterday.

Today's progress

So today we cleaned up the frame a little and brushed on some black paint

And then we cleaned off the firewall and underside of the pickup cab that I am using and also painted that black.

Behind the cab are the dana 44 and 14 bff axles that I will be putting next year. This year's project is body swap/flatbed fabrication.

Alright, sorry I havn't posted any progress in a awhile here's a pic of an idea I came up with for the rear of the truck

The more I look at it, the more I envision having those rigged up as quick-detachable bedsides with a net tailgate between them when installed. Leave them in the garage most of the time, but pop them on when you need a little bedwall.

I have the PERFECT flatbed that would fit for you, you'd just have to come down here for it. It's this one:

No one will know if you're comin' or goin'!:haha: It's like some kind of redneck stealth technology, I love it.
Yea my dad said I should also put a hood in the rear too. But actually I am thinking of tapering the rear fenders. Or my brother made the suggestion of having the front of the fender hinged so you could have the fenders regular style for street driving and then when you want to go offroad, pull some pins, hinge the fenders inward and repin them. Its gonna be a little while before I work on the rear of the truck. I still have to swap wiring over and make a rear crossmember to mount the cab.

Some more progress

So this is where I am at now. It took me a while to get the truck running again, somehow the ICM and PCM got fried  so I replaced them and now it runs. The front cab mounts are bolted in and my brother and I are working on making some mounts for the rear cab crossmember.

I'm using the crossmember from a pickup and have cut two plates that will be welded to the top of the frame with gussets and the crossmember will bolt to the plates. Here's how it looks now. The new fenders are bolted on and I put on my new swap meet doors, they just need a little bit more adjusting and then I can start cutting them into half doors.

We finally got the rear crossmember done

We also cut out a piece of wire mesh that will be welded in the rear window opening after the roll cage is installed

I sanded the hood and one of the fenders and sprayed them with Olive Drab spray paint

I plan on cutting the door at the tape line to make half-doors.

I am going to cut off the top of the doors as well but I have been debating whether or not to weld the door tops to the cab so you dont see the door jamb when the door is closed

But when you open the door only the bottom will swing out. I am also going to cut the door handle so only the part around the button remains

yea I got the other fender painted last weekend removed the trans hump from the old body(new cab is missing the hump) and got the main part of the flatbed welded up. I will try and get some more pics this weekend but I will be at the real truck club challenge on sunday.
