More progress on k-5 pickup/flatbed conversion*Wheeling Pics*

Alright, progress has been slow lately. Im going to be moving out of my parents place in a few weeks. So here's what my brother and I have gotten done

This is the start to the flatbed. It's just a little wider than the blazer frame rails. The middle crossmember will be bolted to the old blazer body mounts and then we will make mounts for the front and rear of the flatbed. Those springs in the background are a set of 63's I got for free last week!!(Thanks Matt from Attitude Performance)

And we got started on the S&W DOM 10-point roll cage. The back hoop was cut to size, the back bar was welded in. The roof hoop was welded to the back hoop and one of the A-pillar bars was welded.

Went wheeling this weekend

Well I got the truck driveable so That I could do some wheeling.

Well the truck worked out pretty good all day saturday, although It spit out a body bushing (wrong washer), and I need to get some more weight in the back, I was three wheeling a couple times. I also need to trim the fenders, I cut up the front tires pretty good. On sunday morning my alternator died on me so I had to end the day early.
 
I plan on cutting the door at the tape line to make half-doors.

start you cut behind the vent window. you can keep your mirror mount and have poor mans A/C is you drive it on the street.

Well I don't think I will be driving it on the street anymore. That's what my 88 k5 is for. But Im leaning more towards keeping the vent windows. It was getting kinda hot in the truck last weekend. Well here are a few more pics

I really like the new bench seat u put in out of the white dually cab whats the name of the guy who helped u install it.... he did a hell of a job!!! :)
 
im working on the same build, im stuck on the rear cab mounts. i also have the pickup rear cab crossmember. did you find the height to be correct by just resting it on top of the blazer frame? thats what it looks like in your pictures. that seemed to be the right to me. also im making a "super short box for the back Ive built one before i used a pickup bed floor and box front then used blazer box sides and shortened them in the front. looked pretty sweet when i was done. also the blazer box sides already had mounting holes for a pickup tailgate.

Are you going to put a set of cross bars at the top of your roll cage? basically putting an X across the top will stiffen that up and make a world of difference with strength.

Im going to add two center bars so I can mount a cb to it. Also I dont plan on adding much more gusseting to the cage because this truck will get an exocage next winter, and that will be reinforced to take a lot of hits and rolls
