Why didn't you tell us you were related to the "Red Rooster?"
i didn't know "the red rooster" existed!!
Well, sit right down and ole Bubba Ray will give you the history of the "Red Rooster."
The "Red Rooster" was originally and now is known as retired professional wrassler Terry Taylor.
Mr. Taylor got his start on the road to national notierity in the Mid-South area. Now for the one's who know of and have seen some Mid-South wrasslin will most definately remember some of the greatest professional wrasslin ever. Well, young Mr. Taylor was a very popular face in this region. Well, some of us know the story of the NWA/WWF, Crocketts, Watts, takeovers and such, so I won't venture.
Somewhere around 1990, 1991 after Mr. McMahon had put most of these small regional promotions under and a lot of the stars of these regions had made their way north to the WWF, Mr. Taylor arrived in the rings of the WWF.
Well, Mr. McMahon was known for some of the cartoon type gimmicks and Taylor arrived as the Red Rooster. Well, to us old-school wrasslin fans, this was not only an insult, but a slap in the face. For we knew of the greatness that Taylor was steps from being. Well, the Red Rooster went over like a turd in a punchbowl and for the rest of his wrasslin career, this gimmick followed Taylor.
These days, Taylor sometimes works behind the scenes, shows up at small indy shows and helps young guys become better.
Now you know and knowing is half the "haircut." /forums/images/icons/grin.gif
