Hello,

I have a '76 GMC that is kind of different and am wondering if any of you have seen a truck like this before. My truck was originally a 250 I6, 3 speed manual (column shifted), 4 wheel drive, with a stepside bed. I do not believe the stepside was original. It has now has a small block swap and and would like to change it to a 4 speed. The truck has a NP205 t case and i have an '84 model SM465 in the garage. Will I need a different tailshaft adapter to mate these two up? Has anyone else seen or owned a 3 speed 4x4 1/2 ton before?

I almost bought a 73' with the 3 on the tree. It was very basic. 6 cylinder no power brakes or steering, rubber floor. Cept it was 2 wheel drive.

3 spds are rare but they are out there.

The 76 205 will work with the 84 4spd (assuming it's from a 4wd) as they both should be 10 spline, however, you will need a different adapter.

I've seen em too. I would imagine if you're off roading the linkage would bind up pretty bad not allowing you to shift gears. It's pretty neat otherwise, my first truck was a 3 on the tree.
