Fellas. I am going on a bit of a wheeling trip in about 10 days with some other members to the Death Valley area of Eastern Cali. I will be going from about 250' below sea level to over 8000' passes on the same day. without tearing apart my TA and putting new jets in on the trail is there anything I can adjust to make it run better at the different elevations. I'll be doing these elevation changes twice in 3 days. Any recommendations to help with this issue with minor adjustments?

You'll be fine if you're decently tuned to start with. I've driven all over around here (Panamint, DV, Eastern Sierra) and never had a real problem with a carb. Worst case is you'll run rich up high...

Yea, since I live about a mile from the beach and occasionally go to Big Bear it runs OK at the higher elevations but didn't know if I could make it run great with little adjustment.

Longbedder, are you or your posse planning on going next week to do Panamint with us low-landers? Sounds like bhays was planning to go and it seemed like you two know each other.

I think so, but I will be playing catch-up on Saturday (I'll be out of town until Friday night). I'll prolly try and find you guys out there or something. I'm not sure of Brian's specific plan, but should see him at the cantina tonight and find out. I think some other guys may be going as well.

The only adjustable circuits are idle and main jets. Not worth re-jetting unless your AFR is out of whack to begin with.

I live at approx 8K. For a typical SB Chevy, you would drop 4 jet sizes, from the out of box size, on the primaries.

You will be fine, just a little fat, on the mixture.
