Ok, so here's a quick story to get this thread started..... I used to be a regular here but then after the birth of my daughter I lost interest in my Blazer and focused my time and effort into my new family. The Blazer has basically sat for 10 years. I bought the Blazer and decided to put a 2" body lift to add to the 4" suspension lift to fit 35" Pro Comp Mud Terrains. I pulled up the carpet to get at the body bolts and found the typical rust so I tore into it and replaced the entire rear floor and tailpan plus the rear wheel wells. That's when the progress ended for 10 years. I'm now finally ready to tackle the remaining issues and finish it up and finally enjoy the Blazer. I paid for a membership here last month and ready to get back to the CK5 family. I'll try and update this often and will be posting pics of the progress. I've never done any of this before but I'm doing the best I can so I welcome any and all positive input you can share. So, with that said......... on to the pics and progress.

Here's the Blazer as it sat a couple months ago with the rear floor and tailpan installed......

This is after I cut out the rusted areas with a cut off wheel......

I will be replacing the inner and outer rocker panels as well as both rear mounts as well as patching the rusted areas on the floor and a few other places I have shown. To get atthe inner rockers, I removed the front bumper, hood and got ready to remove the front clip.......

as of last week, I have removed the entire front clip. I can now get started on the actual rust repair. I didn't initially want to tear it down this much but it will be a good time to paint the engine block with POR-15 engine paint as well as put in the 2" body lift. I removed the battery, radiator and all necessary wiring was disconnected before asking a neighbor to help lift off the clip. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be in the end......

Thanks, Rene! I really appreciate the help you've given me.... both technically as well as giving me the encouragement to do the job. I've never done some of this before but I'm also no slouch in getting my hands dirty and trying something myself. I may get frustrated but I'm also not afraid to ask the questions to help myself through the job. I try to follow the Built Not Bought philosophy to the best of my ability. I'll keep trying and keep asking questions and I know I will be proud of my Blazer when it's all finished. Thanks again.

That's what this site is all about! :waytogo:

I like the fact that you have kept it all those years, and you got time to work on it again.:waytogo:

Did you have it in your garage the whole time?
It looks good.
Good luck with it!

Are you completely sold on the 2" body lift? If I were you, I would go with ORD's 1" body lift instead, but that's just me.

Nice looking Blazer though.

Yes, it was in the garage for all those years and yes I'm going with the 2" body lift since I already have it bought and I need the extra 2" to go with the current 4" suspension it has to fit the new 35" Pro Comp Mud Terrains.

What about the 1" zero rates, with the ORD 1" body lift, then sell the body lift.

You could probably profit on the BL over what you paid for it way back.

And, lots of people run 4" springs and 35's.
