My Build Thread - The stuff actually works

Everything I read about caliper grinding was from years ago and a lot of purist don’t/won’t. Once I saw the beef on the caliper 1/4” should have no impact on strength or the integrity of the caliper.

I put 35x12.5 x 15 BFG all terrains this past fall. They’ve been holding the bead at 15 PSI and have done pretty good so far in the rocks

Don't get the steelies from National Tire and Wheel. Their powdercoat is just as shitty as their shipping.

Axles are killing me!! Put them aside this weekend and started the swing out carrier build. The drop down was too hard to deal with when I needed to access the back.

QUESTION: Would the 2.75” - .120 wall tubing be strong enough to hold a 35x12.5x15 spare?

Depends, not a single pipe, but if you're building a contraption, 2" would work as long as you have at least 2 tubes and connected and braced

The last post was over 5 years ago ... wow. I've been rebuilding the drivetrain for the last year and I got the thing on the road. The 350 gave up in November of 2025. Lost a lobe, lifter and broken pushrod.

I wanted to keep the vintage engine and be pure, but I succumbed to the LS world. So many issues that I had to work through and a few little gremlins left but I drove 360 for lunch and it performed great.

What engine mounts did you use? Great looking install.
