Hey guys, ive been having problems out of my factory horns and decided to fix it. First i had to remove the aftermarket horn swith and wiring from the PO. Then hooked up everything and realized the relay was bad. I go to install this relay and the horn constantly blows. I pulled the contact out of the column thinking it was stuck but it still blows as long as the relay is plugged up. Im wondering if the wire in the column is grounded somehow? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks:dunno:

Might want to watch this to see where you are going to have to go with this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsIWG-hRfy0

From my remembrance of how those are assembled though, the only likely place for the wire to have issues is at the tilt mechanism, as sometimes the wires get frayed there. The contact for the horn is pretty foolproof from the wheel through the turn signal cancelling cam plate/horn contact, I can't see how that portion could cause this issue.

If you use a multimeter set on continuity to identify the wire at the plug at the base of the column that is the horn wire, you can check for a short to ground at the column, or between that plug and the relay (part of the convenience center IIRC).

That sounds good.; Thanks for the info. I was working on this saturday while the next door neighbors were having a pool party. I know a blowing horn is annoying!

You could always just unplug the two horns and install a light in their place for a nice visual indication of if the "horn" is on or not.

I got the relay at oreillys. I dont have it on me now but it was their BWD brand or something like that. i jumped a wire before hand when i was troubleshooting the relay and it worked. But im going to make it work properly with the relay

Got it! I got home and fooled with it again. I plugged the relay back in and actually let go of it. The horns quit. But if I grabbed the relay and squeezed the connector and relay at the same time the horns go off. I then realized that the horn pin/spring assembly in the button were installed wrong after watching a YouTube video from " Ididit ". I felt like a " idiot" afterwards! Lol Thanks for the info guys.:D

So if you held the horn button down, the horn would stop? Sounds like a dead man switch to warn other drivers if you fall asleep and stop pressing the button.
