I was thinking that the entire time, "this is why I don't own a damn Dodge!" I love the old Mopar muscle cars, but that's where I'm drawing the line. I keep telling Nicole it's time to get rid of this thing.
Florida has salt air and humidity, correct?dont make me show you pics of under 60k miles brake rotors and even worse the almost 100k mile rotors i did on a 85%-90% florida driven truck all these from gm .
like i said its CRAP recycled material and piss pour standards .
I've seen this rust issue a few times. The pad dragging on it kind of covers up the rust and makes you think it's decent steel. If you take a grinder or something it will go right through the shine into brown. Really not much to be done for them at that point. Most of the time it forms on the inside surface so it must have something to do with retaining moisture back there. Of course everything looks fine until you pull the rotor.Admittedly this isn't on any of my Chevy trucks, but we discovered some rear brake issues on my wife's van. It's a 2014 with 70K miles and I thought it was odd the rears needed done.
I found this on 1 side

Curious if anyone else has seen this. It's some sort of build up around the outer and inner edge of the rotor that caused corresponding pad wear. You might notice where it chipped off when I banged on the rotor to pop it off the hub.
It's only on the inside. Anyone seen something like this.
The other rear side has a locked up slide pin that caused the inside pad to wear down to the metal. The outside pad still had 3/8" of pad left.
The point of salt is to melt things, so even rock salt turns the road into brine that sprays everwhere, even on the roof. Road salt is truly insidious. Government seizure of our tax dollars used to vandalize our property. The problem with the mag chloride is it's liquid, so it manages to find a lot of nooks and crannies.
Yeah, it irritates me when I think about how much money they are spending on the winter road spray and then talk about how there's no money for real road work.I've seen this rust issue a few times. )--and complaints about the dust blowing off the pile by nearby residents..Hopefully they will at least tarp it something, but I'd think it would probably have to go into some sort of container so that runoff from rain water doesn't just wash it away from the bottom of the pile. You should see the mountain of salt in Providence RI that was shipped there from Egypt,to be distributed to all the DPW trucks--it's huge..
Its not the only one either, there are several more all over MA too..
It never snowed here ONCE since December, now they are all up in arms about whats going to become of it,the "eyesore" and potential harm it'll cause if it gets in the water supply,(like dumping it on the roads doesn't pollute it !)--and complaints about the dust blowing off the pile by nearby residents..
I commented on a FB post about this salt pile and was immediately flamed by trolls,I said "people should learn how to DRIVE in snow, instead of us dumping salt on the streets, that rots away our vehicles in 5-10 years, and poisons water supplies, wells, and kills all the vegetation along the sides of the roads"..
One of the trolls said I was an "idiot"--I replied "Why--because you don't agree with my opinion & facts ?--you own a salt mine or something?"...he didn't have a comeback..
What a waste, paying to have salt shipped in from Egypt, only to never have it snow..I'm sure they'll dump a few hundred tons if we happen to get a minor dusting or freezing rain threat to get rid of it..don't know if it can be stored away for a year and still be effective..
