Ok, so I bought the "large" bearing splitter from Harbor Freight (no jokes, please)...
The "edges" that are supposed to get under the bearing didn't quite do it properly because they're too thick. It destroyed the inner bearing I was trying to remove from my pinion.
So, I got a new bearing, pressed it on, and I find out I need to change the shim under the bearing after running a test pattern on the gears.
I'm not about to use the same bearing splitter (I already verified that I had used it correctly, it was grabbing the cage and not the bearing itself).
So... I just went to Sears' website, and...WTF!?!? Their prices on bearing splitters are outrageous. Good ones or not...DAMN.
Justify this...

Can anyone recommend an affordable bearing splitter that will do the job I need it to? I paid $20 for the one from Harbor Freight, which I intend to return. But even the $80 one from Sears seems a bit out of my price range as I'm on a budget.
