Me and my father put new sleeves in and rebuilt the injectors. It ran okay for a little bit, like there was air in the fuel orsomething, now it has gone to 6 miles a gallon, smoking black like like crazy, and my father tells me he thinks there is fuel in the coolant. (Why we worked on it in the first place.)

Any help from the brotherhood would be greatly appreciated.

how's the coolant look? im thinking coolant in the fuel could cause the smoking, but simply fuel in the coolant? how's it getting there? cracked head? torn or blown headgasket? you know how many psd guys would kill for oodles of black smoke? lol... i would check a ford diesel forum for more in depth info...

he said check the injectorsthere is orings on the bottom of them that would be a potential coolaint fuel leak spot did you do any head work

I have three powerstrokes, and when I need help (frequently) I go to
thedieselstop.com
Plenty of good guys and good answers over there.

We rebuilt the injectors, and replaced the sleeve that runs through the head, but i guess Ill check some ford forums. Thanks guys.

that sleeve seals out fuel and coolant from the cylinder AND from each other, just like a 3116 Cat. and those are a bastard to do the injector cups in. You guys have the know how to rebuild an injector?

I've never been inside a IH444 but have been inside plenty of other heui & meui engines.

We replaced all internal & external seals, but none of the hard parts in the injectors (hard parts are $$$). We also replaced the sleeves, but maybe something went wrong when installing???? I dont know.
