4l60 or the newer 4l65. easy to spot. 4l65 has removable bell housing like a ford tranny or any stick tranny.

tcase should have a tag on it. or cast in the case borgworner. chevy has started to switch over to them. if older new prosses. it will have a red round tag on the back in the middle area.

being a Z71, it could have a 4L80E in it. i've looked at a couple recently that had a 4L80E and a 10 bolt out back. 16 bolts = 60E, 17 bolts = 80E

If I'm not mistaken it could be the np241.

They stopped using the NP241 on the NBS trucks.

No half ton, being the only GM truck factory with the 10 bolt rear, comes factory with an 80e.

i've seen at least 10 trucks like this, one of them being my buddy's 94. ironically, ALL of them that i have seen were extended cab shortbed Z71s.

umm so a 10 bolt is a 4L80E?? it has 10 bolts

No, he is saying 16 or 17 bolts in teh tranny, not 10 on the rear end.

Its probably not a 4l80E, but theres a chance...
