I think that is a question that if you ask 5 different people you will probably get 5 different answers.. It is a matter of personal taste as far if you want something that is just loud or something that has better performance..
I have run cherry bombs, turbo tubes, glass packs or what ever you want to call them.. There is a different sound depending on the length that you get.. You will get alot of people that wont run nothing but Flowmaster.. I have the 50 series on 1 of my trucks now and it is pretty good but if I had to it again I would get the 40 series because the 50 is to quiet to me.. You can also get a Summit muffler that Is very much like the Flowmaster but cheaper..
If you do a search on here that subject has been discussed alot..
The Cherry Bomb Turbo mufflers (not the glass packs) are really inexpensive, and sound pretty good. I have a set of the 2 1/4" in/out on my 305. At first, they seemed quiet, but they have opened up some now that I have about 500 miles on them. Can't beat them for the price.
flowmasters sound really good but i think they would get to me, specially in my case i have to drive about 600 miles to get where we moving...so i went with the cherry bomb turbo mufflers and ya i like the sound.!
I run Imco's, which are good quality flowmaster knockoffs. They're between the 40 and 50 series for volume and sound really good. On the highway I hardly even notice them but when I get on it around town they get loud
I would check out the mufflers that Summit sells. I have the 3" Summit Turbos's, and they are quiet at idle, but get loud quick when the go pedal gets dropped. They are very affordable.
