I am in the process of buying hubs for my front 60, and was planning on buying the Warn Premiums. My 60 already has the stock 35 spline outers. I am now considering getting the Drive Flanges and Chromoly outers from 4wdfactory, but are they worth the $450 price tag. Will I gain that much more strength over the stockers? I am working on a budget, and could probably use that money on a cage or shocks, but I do need to put something up front because I have nothing right now. Your opinions are appreciated.

I agree, I was fortunate enough to know some guys at the 4wheel parts to swap out my 35 spline warn premiums for warn drive flanges. I say buy it once and it is cheaper in the long run. Also I broke a warn prem hub.. so far the flanges are great.

how easily can the flanges be removed for street driving?

You can't with most (i.e. the cap won't go back on without the puck in there).

Drive flanges are fine on the street as long as you don't have a spool in the front, I don't know why many people think that drive flanges aren't streetable.

Just make sure that your front driveshaft is at least somewhat balanced. On the warn Drive flanges you can run them without the actual slug in place. they are 3 piece.

My rig is trail only, so I was not planning on balancing my driveshaft.

If it's a trail rig only, then definitely get the flanges.

In response to some of the other questions, you can get the factory style flange covers which are just stamped metal that push on the end of the hubs pretty cheap. My buddy used to run factory flanges that were just broached to 35-spline and could take them out for street driving in a matter of minutes. Just pop the cap off, take off the snap-ring, slide the flange out, pop the cap back on.

Yes, and if you ever lose a cap, the bottom portion on a 20 oz Powerade container with a little bit of gasket sealant will work in a pinch....or for six months. It sealed better than the metal cap on the other side. :D
