Ok so this blazer i picked up had a recipt dated feb 2008
it said chevy crate engine 2200 labor 1200

the engine is a shiney blue all one color from heads to block to oil pan so im assuming it was a long block assembly ... anyway i cant find the dam recipt to call the shop and ask about the motor but what im wondering is for a 2200 dollar lb what do you think i could expect this motor to be?

Seems a little expensive for a simple remaned long block 350.

Would there be anything on the exterior to indicate if it was a gm crate or a a pos napa reman?

Any help is appreciated thanks.

Oh if i remember right the shop was like todds auto or something like that out of ohio so not a chevy dealer just some independant.

If it was a GM goodwrench engine it would have stickers on the valve covers. I could be wrong but every Goodwrench engine i have seen lately has been painted black.
If there is nothing to ID where It came from who knows. Could be a local reman. Or an engine the shop gets from a rebuilder they trust. If it is a reputable shop. The only way to find out is contact the PO or the shop that did the install. You could get the numbers off the block It wont tell you much but at least you would know what kind of block you have.
If it is painted shiny blue..... Mabe it is a Ford.:D

Gm crate motors are painted black, could've been painted blue but why? Kinda like kissing your sister or something, I'd try to contact the shop that did the work and find out for sure.

yea if its painted blue its most likely a reman long block, the truck i just picked up had a reman long block and it was blue, most of the motors ive installed have a metal tag with the company name on it, usually on the block near #1 cylinder

ya ill have to crawl under the hood with mirror and see if i can find a sieral number or something im hoping its a better motor than a run of the mill reman but who knows .. i wish i didnt lose the recipt lol

I'd say it's probably a reman or something. the one in my truck is a crate motor and every one i've seen have this little tag on the valve coverss. This motor is atleast 10 yrs old now

ya unfortunately the guy put aftermarket valve covers on it .. cuess ill need to rip the motor apart a biit and have a look see :)

my gm reman goodrich motor had that sticker on it also and is painted black from valve cover to pan.napa's color is blue so call the shop and findout.

That sure looks like Ford Blue to me.. Maybe they just stuck a bowtie oil cap on a Ford Block:D JK

Chevy used both Chevy Blue, and GM corp blue. From the mid 70s to the early 80s then they changed to black. I remember when Goodwrench target master engines were painted GM corp blue. Back when they made them in the good old USA. GM corp Blue is a light blue almost turquoise color.
Chevy blue is a little darker
