Hi all,

I picked up a Warn bumper from an 84 SWB. Either the frame rails are shorter on a K5 or mounting an 8274 requires me to remove my Grill assy.
Heres pics of the additional length I need to make it fit.
Does anyone have some pics of their mounts or tell me how long they are?
Im thinking about using some 4" channel mounted inside the frame rail to extend it. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Where I have it set-up, with the channel extensions, is 9 1/2" from the grill to the front. Same as yours. Its either a difference in the frame length or the mounting brackets. Weird :dunno:

I'll take more pics. of the brackets and the dimensions of the brackets in the mornin' when I have some light. Are you SURE those are the right brackets for that bodystyle? My bumper came from a '77 K20 and I had to buy new brackets for my '90 'Burb. I know you said it came from an '84 truck, but did you see it mounted on the truck?

OK, I went and took pictures of the '73-'80 bumper brackets that came off the '77 K20. Even though they were welded and not stamped like yours, they look like yours. They are 10" long, the ones for my suburban are 11" long and look different than yours. You can see the shape of the frame end on the right bracket, it's rounded where ours are angled.

Did the truck you got the brackets from have a body lift on it? Looks like you need a few inches higher on the body to fit that bracket back further.

I dont know the background of the bumper. I figured since it was on an 84, I believe truck, not blazer, it would have probably been close. I wonder if Warn still sells the brackets  , if not, I can make the channel work :weld:

No, trucks and blazer frame horns are identical. Theres something else thats not making those brackets line up to the holes. I'm still betting the truck had a body lift on it.

Looking at his current brackets, the ones that I have pictured, and mine on my Suburban, I say his brackets are for 73-80 style trucks.

Could be, but he said he got it off an '84 truck. While the holes on the brackets do look like '73-'80 horns, lets see pics of the '84 horns he got them from.
Almost sounds like the '84 truck has that year body on an older frame maybe?

Ok, I have solved your problem. The brackets you got with that bumper are not 81+ yr brackets, they are 73-80 brackets. I sent you a pm
