ok so i blew my tranny last weekend. I have a 83K5 blazer with the 6.2 diesel in her. So i was pulling my toy hauler back from glamis and about twenty miles from home i lost 3rd and 4th gear. if i drop the truck in 1st and 2nd it works fine.. reverse is also not affected it backs up just like it used to.

so here is where i need your help do i need to buy a whole new/rebuilt tranny? i found some for about 1000$ if i give them my old one. or i could pay 2k to have mine rebuild and put in by the shop.

I could also just buy a used one and hope it is good for the next couple years ad those look like they are going for about 300 bucks.

or i could buy a rebuild kit and try and do everything myself. cost of about 200$.

any info would help guys thanks.

Go to a GM dealer and ask which tech there rebuilds the trans. Talk to that guy and see if he will do it on the side. Usually they will if it is just a stock rebuild, and they'll do it cheap. Less than $350 cash including parts is what I usually pay for a TH350 or TH400.

What city are you in?

Do you want to stay with the 700R4? Visit "BowtieOverdrive" for info about your trans. That should be enough info for you to make your decision.
