Like the title says I need some opinions on this. My buddy built this bumper and wants to know what people think about it. He used 11 gauge steel plating and 3/8" x1" channel. This is only a temp bumper, he's mainly experimenting on designs at the moment. Basically what are the pro's and con's about it that you see.

The truck is a 06 nightrunner 1500 series stock power train 3 inch body 8 inch suspension 38" yoko's

Only thing I question is does it have a winch cradle?

Can't tell if the license plate is hiding the fairlead mount

Only reason I ask is pretty much personal preference but if your gonna spend the time and money making a heavy bumper, might as well include a winch set up

Looks good, but its missing something, Maybe some tube bars (pre runner style) going infront of the grill itself.

I think a somewhat wide, low stinger would really help... utilizing that angled section by the grill for mounting..

I like the general overall shaping, design, but I think it needs to be a bit sleeker... tighten it up a bit.. not quite as bulky... if that makes any sense to anyone... :haha:

yep, like everyone else said already

small stinger starting from where the grill is, going out just over the lights, and some small tubes going up from the lights to meet the stinger. Winch setup. A little more "lean", but that's just me.

Also, how strong are those shackle points? I'm a big fan of big chunks of 1" metal with holes for shackles, mine are also bolted to the frame, not just welded to the bumper.

and some small tubes going up from the lights to meet the stinger. .

I don't think it even needs those.. just a single semi beefy one imo..

something like this, but with a bender.. like 1.75"

I agree with the others that it does need a little stinger bar, kinda like what ryoken drew on. Also on the corners at the lights, I think instead of having a 'lip' at the inside edge of the light and tapering to flush at the corners I would keep the lip the whole way, and even around the side. As it APPEARS, anything that hits the bumper on the outer edges will take out the headlight. Also if possible I would bring the 'chin' up. Looks like it extends too far under the truck, but may just be the angle.

Thanks guys you've given my friend a lot of food for thought. He is going to be tweeking that bumper a bit more so I'll have some more pics sometime soon hopefully.

I hate IFS as much as the next guy but I have to give that truck props because as soon as he put those 38's on there I bet him something would break. That was about 6 months ago. Him and I have both flogged that truck like none other and it still held up so. That's a miracle truck considering he still runs the stock gears in it.
