Do any of ya know or have had issues with fords in the past the have had no power to really do anything except run on the street. The truck I'm deallin with has 351 not sure which of the 2 it is inrefrence to windsor or a clevland block and not sure how to find out.
But the problem we are having is that there is no power on the take off and it can barely get over a curb. It has a 2 barrel carb and we do have a book on the truck but it is not the original book. But what I'm basically looking for is common problems and the answers to fix them info on the truck is 1982 ford f100 with not the original motor and its a 2wd 3in. body and 4in, suspension on 35in safari tires. PLEASE HELP I'M NOT A FORD GUY I SWEAR. BUT MY FRIEND IS AND HE WILL COME AROUND SOON.

First check the timing, air filter, fuel filter, condition of cap, rotor, plugs and wires.

If all that checks out you can check the coil and possibly rebuild the carb or mess with the mixture.

Is it the original carb?

yeah its the original carb and it also has a flex fan that apparently cant cool the truck fast enough.

Just hook up a tow rope from your rear bumper to his front bumper and hand him directions to the nearest scrap yard... problem solved.

But, if you really want to fight with it. Check the basics first. Spark, fuel, timing. It could be many things so you need to start by process of elimination.

Thats exactly what I said everything behind that blue oval needs to be replaced with chevy parts.

I run Fords, and have a 351 in my F250 right now. Its not a real high power motor, but if set up right, will get the job done. You said its an 82. Along about that time, Ford had a "better idea". In some weird attempt to get car type gas mileage out of their trucks, a lot of the 100s and 150s came with really low gearing. A friend of mine bought a 100 that had a six cylinder and 2.89 gears. Manual shift. He burnt up two clutches under warranty.
He complained, and Ford put in a set of 3.50s for free.
I really doubt that you are running 2.89s with 35 inchers<G>, but you might want to check and see what you do have.

If you keep the blue oval, it'll still be plagued with problems. The Chevy parts will be offended by the emblem and not cooperate.:D

Did you know 98% of the Fords ever made are still on the road?

The other 2% actually made it home :haha:
