Neutral safety switch bypass..auto tranny

Has anyone done this???

My neutral safety switch is giving me trouble, so im thinking on putting a push button in there for the starter, bypassing the NSS

my dad did this on our old Nova along time ago, somehow bypassed it to where you still had to have the key in the "on" position, otherwise the starter would just keep cranking, no power to the coil.

Worked fine, for along time, until one day i decided to just replace the switch, cost like $8 and a mouth full of colorful words for it's replacement.

AND....It will start in gear.....ask me how I know....

yeah, that is one drawback, but usually it's won't lurch like a manual trans will, you can usually catch it with the auto trans before any damaging movement, unless you're out of the car for some odd reason

Found the problem... i cant tight it up cause the screw jumps out again.
