Well, they're real in the sense that GM made them ... IIRC, they also did a "CUCV-III". I believe the services bought a few, but nowhere near as many as the M1008/09/etc clan. The HMMWV is the single solution for most tactical wheeled vehicles; other vehicles get base duty at most.

We have a lot of SRW 4x4 3500 Crew Cabs down here that are that body style. Painted OD green with CARC paint. I do not think they are quite the same though personally.

I drone a 2000 model 3500 chevy when i was in Afghaninstan it even had the troop seats like the older cucv's it was a good truck humvees's suck IMO
