Whats up everybody,
Im brand new here as well as new to the whole k5 world. I was just gifted with a 1977 k5 blazer, it is all origional, the owner said the only thing he has ever changed were just basic maintenance and tune up parts, oh yeah tires toon. there are only 120k origional miles on it. the only problems other than a little tranny work and some fresh paint is the passenger door is out of alignment. Not a dent. (some rust not bad at all)

I have been into offroading only a few onths and have been wheelin a kia sportage. I do know that i like to scare all my sissy friends and wife with a little hill climbing, i would love to do some real rock crawling, mud bogging, along the once in a great while beach or dune cruise.

I am working on pictures for you guys, and i need to check the truck out a bit more. I update asap.

Cool! Welcome and congrats on the new rig. You will love it here.

You just made the worst and the best decision oh how the pocket book will suffer but the enjoyment is priceless welcome

I plan on not having to worry about the cali. smog ****. I will most likely tow my k5 to the trails. depending on this motor and stuff. it has ok mileage but the rules are strict. I may drive more? what are the most popular (best) powerplant and drive train combinations for all around abuse?

i was refering to all the money you will dump into it its an obsession never ending.
drive train is a whole can o worms but it depends alot on budget and what you plan on doing of hwy.
if you have a solid running truck concentrate on the suspension, roll cage, tires drive shafts stuff like that make it reliable.......

Here is another new member asking similar Q's, His and mine are 73's but as far as drive train tough its all the same as far as what MOST are building. I posted a bunch of my posts for him and anyone to view, most have pics too. hope this helps.

For your drivetrain: sheer reliabilty; 4.2l straight six and sm465. I have a grocery list of crap I did to that to TRY and make it die. Swapped in a 350 and have hated it since. I'm going back to a 4.2l and a 5 speed Clark tranny.
