Hey all. I’m new to the forum but have been lurking for awhile and am now looking forward to contributing. I’m about to take delivery of a 71 K5 (not my 1st blazer but 1st of this gen). What are the top 5 things to check out when getting a new old blazer? I’ve read things like it’s good to replace the body mounts before taking top off. Appreciate any and all help. I’ll post pics soon!

If you're gonna take the top off make sure it has the torsion boxes still in tact. That's what keeps it from folding up.

I believe they are reproduced so you can install new ones.

Is that an easy install? And does the roll bar make up for the lack of it in terms of body flex?

They are weld in, so no, not an easy install.
If it's just a stock type roll bar it won't help. The problem is the back half of the truck folding up towards the windshield. That pinches the doors and makes it hard to open.

yep, going to want something under there before taking the top off. They’re already a bit floppy when the boxes are installed.
