Well, after contemplating it for the last couple years and slowly running out of space in my current box at work I finally ordered up a new box. I was pretty nervous sitting here at the computer hovering over the "place order" button but now it's done. This is the box I purchased in blue. http://www.strictlytoolboxes.com/tool-vault-elite-72-17-drawer-tool-cabinet.html?source=ad

I have heard many good things about this box and even chatted with Shannon from Strictlytoolboxes.com about a few concerns I had about this particular box and the reviews are awesome.

Im curious to see how you like it. These seem like a middle of the road price wise (and hopefully quality will follow price) from the HF specials to a high end box.

Looks like a decent toolbox and can always move up from there. Sometimes I ask why the $%^& I got got a Matco6S but then should last my lifetime and my daughters. Keep us posted on how box turns out. Looked into the side full lockers for my box cause 3K to match my box is little to much now.

Now I await impatiently (like a kid in a candy store), the box shipped this morning and I received a call letting me know I should have it no later than friday.

New box arrived yesterday. This thing is really nice. The quality is good and I'm happy with it.

Good looking box. You going to set a chest on it or just leave it for junk cluttering?

No chest and no junk cluttering, I will however buy a hutch at some point down the road.

Scott, Have you ever had a hutch before? If so do you like and prefer one? Curious if I'd like one or not.

I've never had a hutch but a top box is fairly useless if you have enough space in the cabinet. The nice thing about a hutch is you can leave all your battery powered tools on the top of your box charging and just close and lock the hutch to keep them from growing legs and walking away.

I always see guys where they are open. I guess I didn't realize they have a door and are lockable. I dig it. May have to look into one someday. Sure as hell not now though lol.

I always looked at the hutch's as a way for a guy to get a"big looking" box without spending the coin of a topbox... they're cool, but my top and bottom are stuffed.. I couldn't have one, no way.. that's why I have a locker.. I'd actually like a matching one for the other end...

Naw it's not a cop out. Outside of my road boxes. I fit everything in my 67x25 Mac roll cab. I would have no use for a top box that big. A hutch is sweet. The big ones have a shelf on top you can run peg board across back for quick access gear. Run power and lights in to it. Hang your charge station and what not. Still have a clear work area. The full close door in front is perfect to keep the idiots out.

the other nice thing is, I believe it's snappy one that has a top shelf, one for books and such...

The hutch from this brand has a shelf and pegboard already installed. I did notice however that if you still want a stainless top on the roll cabinet that you cannot use the one that is on the cabinet already but have to purchase a different one for the hutch which of course brings the price on the hutch up by a few hundred dollars.

I have a hutch on my Snap On box. It works with the Snap On stainless steel top.
