Hi All,

I apologize for the vagueness of this question, but the noise just started and isn't bad enough yet to be more specific. 87 350 TBI, rebuilt tranny with under 25K on it. Under acceleration, I just started getting a vibration...almost feels like an exhaust leak, but it's not that. Tranny fluid is fine, but I have never looked at the gear oil in my front or rear diffs or transfer case. Could it be that one or both of these areas is dry? Driveshaft getting ready to go? Could be beginning stages of early tranny failure, who knows. If anyone has experienced this feel free to hook a brotha up!

Thanks.

sounds like it could be a U joint starting to go or even a slight miss in the engine may just need a tune up. I would check the U joints first move the uo and down and side to side and see if there is any play if not pump some grease into them and see if goes way. Good luck

set the parking brake and put in neutral to check the u-joints, need to get them un loaded first.

Thanks...Driveshaft looks fine and has some play in it, but when I checked the front differential and transfer case, they both took a LOT of fluid. I can only assume the rear diff is the same way but I can't get the damn plug out of it so I have to take it in tomorrow. This should help, I would think, hopefully not too much damage done.

Your front differential is not spinning while you're in 2WD, that shouldn't be your problem.

You said your driveshaft had "play" in it, where was the play? I'd bet its universal joints in the rear driveshaft.
